This illustration
by an unknown German artist first appeared in "Meyer's Konversations
Lexicon" 5th ed., 1893-5. In the version of the illustration
that was included in the book's 5th edition, the artist's signature is
located just below the tip of the thylacine's tail. Unfortunately,
it is faint and difficult to decipher, but it appears to read: P. KREY
X.I. The signature is absent in the copy shown below, suggesting
that it originates from a later use of the print.
