Here is a finely
detailed representation of the thylacine by Helmut Diller. Unlike
the other artworks presented in this gallery, this illustration was produced
in the latter half of the 20th century (circa 1970), but I have chosen
to include it because of its outstanding quality. Born on 26 October
1911 in Stuttgart, Germany, during his life Diller worked as a portraitist,
landscapist and wood sculptor. His works were exhibited in Europe
and the United States. His perfection in anatomy as well as natural
poses are demonstrated in all of his creations. Many of his illustrations
of animals have been chosen to represent the World Wildlife Fund, and have
appeared in various publications.
