The image is from "Zoological Sketches by Joseph Wolf".  It was painted for the Zoological Society of London and published by Henry Graves & Co., London, 1861.  The lithographs in Zoological Sketches are by John Smit after drawings by Joseph Wolf.  The thylacine was number 31 in a series of 32 sketches.  Note that the individual in the foreground is displaying an erect tail crest.
