Illustrations of six marsupials from Karl Joseph Brodtmann's "Naturhistorische Bilder Gallerie aus dem Theirreiche" (Natural History Picture Gallery of the Animal Kingdom), published in Zurich circa 1824.  Swiss-born Brodtmann (1787-1862) was an expert lithographer considered one of the most accomplished of the early 19th century.

Illustrated are the Virginia opossum (Didelphis virginiana), thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus), Yapok (Chironectes minimus), Eastern quoll (Dasyurus viverrinus), Swamp Antechinus (Antechinus minimus), and Long-nosed bandicoot (Perameles nasuta).
