"De Buidelwolf", produced in 1864 by Robert Kretschmer (1818-1872).  A variant version of this illustration was published by Kretschmer in Brehm's "Tierleben" (Life of Animals) (1865).

Although he is best known for his work in "Tierleben", Kretschmer also drew illustrations for other publications, one example being the Australian forest scene below, from "Geschichte der Entdeckung und Kolonisation" (Australia: History of Discovery and Colonization), by Richard Oberländer, Leipzig, 1880.
