This early thylacine illustration by an unknown artist, entitled "New South Wales Wolf", is from W. I. Bicknell's "The Natural History of the Sacred Scriptures, and Guide to General Zoology".  Publisher - London : John Tallis, circa 1850.  Although the general body proportions are reasonably accurate, note that the tail is too slim and tapered, and the nose and ears too pointed.
