This small right
mandible measuring 3.5" (9 cm) dates from the Late Pleistocene - early
Holocene. It was found in the Withlacoochee River, Florida.
Only one tooth, a premolar (shown magnified in the inset), remains in the
jaw. The tooth is only partially erupted, indicating that the animal
was still young at the time of death.
